Jibreen Castle is a magnificent Omani fort that is known for its beauty and grandeur. It is a large rectangular building that measures 42 meters in length and 22 meters in width, with pillars distributed on all four sides. The fort was constructed during the reign of Imam Balarab bin Sultan Al-Ya’rubi, who succeeded his father Sultan bin Saif, the builder of the Nizwa forts in 1079/1668 AD.
Considered one of the most beautiful forts in the Sultanate, Jibreen Fort is a rare architectural masterpiece that showcases the best of decorative art and Islamic architecture. The fort is adorned with inscriptions and decorations that are not only precise but also exquisitely beautiful. It is a landmark that has a rich history in Oman, as it served as a center for the imam to manage the affairs and affairs of the state.
The fort has several rooms, including the hall of the sun and the moon, prayer room, girls’ rooms, eating room, meeting room, date store, gunpowder store, horse stud, and the shrine of the imam. Each room has its unique features and serves a specific purpose. With its rich history and beautiful architecture, Jibreen Castle is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Oman.
