  • Visit the Old Nizwa Souq, Cattle Market every Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 to experience one of the liveliest markets in the Sultanate. Prices of livestock vary based on breed and quality, with sheep ranging from 120 to 180 Omani riyals and cows ranging from 300 to 700 Omani riyals. The main market offers a variety of local produce, including cucumbers, onions, garlic, bananas, pomegranates, dates, and lemons. The internal markets include the Al-Sansara (Western) market, which features traditional heritage products like grains, spices, agricultural tools, and food. The Date Market displays various varieties of palm fruits, with wholesale quantities available for human and animal consumption. The market also features a wide variety of jewelry, silverware, pottery, antiques, and other traditional crafts. The market’s magnificent display of each item reflects the originality and creativity of the Omani man. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Nizwa market and its renewed heritage.
  • The Nizwa Fort, built during the reign of Imam Sultan bin Saif bin Malik Al-Yarubi between 1649 and 1679 AD, is an impressive 17th-century circular building made of stones and Omani plaster (Al Sarooj). It took 12 years to construct and stands at a height of 34 m with a diameter of 45 m. The flat-surfaced platform sits on a base stacked with stones, reaching a height of 15 m and extending 30 m deep into the ground. The fort contains defensive openings on its doors.
  • The Bahla Fort, listed by UNICCO, is situated on a high hill amid a palm tree oasis. Its impressive mud walls extend for a distance of 12km around the castle, making it a grand and towering structure. The construction of the castle dates back to different periods, including pre-Islam times, particularly in the eastern and northern parts of the castle known as Al-Qasbah. The mountain located near the north of the fort was built in the last decade of the 12th century AH or 18th century AD. Meanwhile, the House of Hadith was built in the middle of the 13th century AH or 19th century AD. Bahla Fort has a rich history and has been associated with many ancient civilizations in Mesopotamia and Persia. It was the first site in Oman to be included in the World Heritage List and was approved by UNESCO as a global cultural landmark in 1988 AD.
  • Jibreen Castle is a magnificent Omani fort that is known for its beauty and grandeur. It is a large rectangular building that measures 42 meters in length and 22 meters in width, with pillars distributed on all four sides. The fort was constructed during the reign of Imam Balarab bin Sultan Al-Ya’rubi, who succeeded his father Sultan bin Saif, the builder of the Nizwa forts in 1079/1668 AD.

    Considered one of the most beautiful forts in the Sultanate, Jibreen Fort is a rare architectural masterpiece that showcases the best of decorative art and Islamic architecture. The fort is adorned with inscriptions and decorations that are not only precise but also exquisitely beautiful. It is a landmark that has a rich history in Oman, as it served as a center for the imam to manage the affairs and affairs of the state.

    The fort has several rooms, including the hall of the sun and the moon, prayer room, girls’ rooms, eating room, meeting room, date store, gunpowder store, horse stud, and the shrine of the imam. Each room has its unique features and serves a specific purpose. With its rich history and beautiful architecture, Jibreen Castle is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Oman.
