Climate and weather of the Sultanate
The Sultanate belongs to the hot, dry regions due to its location north and south of the Tropic of Cancer,the astronomical location and geographical diversity have contributed to the variation in climate.
The weather in Oman tends to be hot most of the year, especially between April and August of each year, as temperatures may reach 40 degrees Celsius or may increase in all governorates of the Sultanate except for Dhofar Governorate, which is characterized by rainy seasonal weather. And cold weather as a result of being affected by monsoons laden with clouds.
In general, temperatures begin to decline gradually, starting from September of each year, and continue to do so during the following months until February. Night temperatures in desert areas may reach 5-10 degrees Celsius, and they may decrease further in the mountainous highlands.
This contrast in climate enriches the biological diversity of living organisms and components of the Omani environment, which is one of the most important pillars of natural life in Oman.
The best time to visit Oman
The weather is at its best from October through April, when temperatures are warm but cooler than the hot summer months and turtles can be seen at Ras Al Jinz.
The Currency of the Sultanate of Oman
The Omani riyal is the local currency, where there are smaller denominations than the riyal such as 500 baisa, 100 baisa, 50 baisa, 25 baisa, 10 baisa and five baisa.
