Discover the wonders of Oman by embarking on a Camel Safari. This experience is tailored to give you a glimpse into the life of the Bedouin people during different seasons and days. It’s ideal for those looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and a chance to immerse themselves in the authentic customs and traditions of the Bedouin people, who have been closely linked to the desert for centuries.
Al Sharqiyah Sands, once known as Wahiba Sands, is a highly sought-after tourist destination in Oman. The unique terrain, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking landscape make it a must-visit location. The sandy dunes create a stunning blend of colors during sunrise and sunset, providing visitors with an unparalleled view of the desert’s beauty. The sands are also home to the original Arab Bedouin, who still uphold their customs, heritage, and way of life. Camels played a crucial role in Bedouin life, serving as travel companions and a source of sustenance through their milk and meat. Camel wool was also used to make clothes and tents, protecting the harsh desert climate. These practices were necessary for survival in the extreme temperatures of the desert.
We invite you to immerse yourself in the authentic experience of Bedouin life by traveling on the backs of camels and witnessing the preparation of camels before setting off on a convoy through the desert. A camel guide will lead the journey, which will last approximately two hours and cover a distance of 8 to 10 kilometers. Upon arrival at the campsite, you’ll find two Arab tents and a reception tent with special services for showering and using the restroom.
After admiring the magnificent sunset among the dunes, indulge in a delectable dinner featuring traditional Omani dishes. After dinner, experience Bedouin life by gathering around the campfire. For the Bedouins, the fire isn’t just for heating or cooking; it’s also a signal and an invitation to everyone nearby to come and enjoy traditional coffee together. Stargazing in the desert is truly an unforgettable experience before your sleeping time.
We recommend waking up early to catch the sunrise and enjoying some leisure time to walk or relax after breakfast. We also invite you to join in on the daily routine by feeding the camels before departing from the campsite.
